Jolly Rogers Guild

ZOMG UPDATES!!!!!!

June 8th, 2008 by Chitsu

Ok, so…..

I am not really sure who reads these, but there are at least 3 people who care, so I will make an update here.

Our website is hijacked from time to time by someone who is desperate to find anyone to share their love for Mary-Kate and Ashley. We have become quite skilled at quickly recovering from this, but boy, it’s been really annoying having to deal with it.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to _strongly_ advise against godaddy for hosting. They honestly don’t care at all about their security. ;-)

Now, on to the stuff 3 of you care about.

Long ago, there was this really cool game called “World of Warcraft”. This game had amazing 40 man raids going on all the time by hardcore endgame guilds in this place called “Molten Core”. This zone was fun, but, people wanted more. Blizzard gave these people BWL. WOW! What a change from MC. Good luck with that first boss, scrub guilds! Many never-before seen things presented themselves in BWL. Bosses you MC, bosses that buff your damage output, bosses that stand at the end of long suppression events, auras, random abilities, odd transformations to specific classes, this zone was FULL of innovative boss fights, and quite challenging. The gear you could find here was like nothing else, few had it, and everyone know you were accomplished when they saw those T2 shoulders.

This trend continued, for the most part, until the culmination of all that is greatness, AKA, Nax. What came next drove away some 40% of the USA’s players. Welcome to “Boring Gearsame”.

The end of this game is now Sunwell. We in Jolly Rogers are committed to making our way in to that zone, and progressing as far as possible there before “Wrath of the Same Game” comes out.

We’ve made our way in to T6 content, though, not before Blizzard decided to let everyone in.

We did kill Vashj….

But we didn’t have a chance to finish up Kael.

So, when we entered Hyjal and BT, we were really motivated to demonstrate (to ourselves, if no one else) that even though we failed to key ourselves before the patch, we still belonged there, and had what it took to claim our place as a T6 guild.

We started with Raz Lootwhisper, and enjoyed the relaxing and peaceful nature of this first encounter.

…. it was so eventful…. we didn’t even think to screenshot it…….

We moved on to Anotherone. Spread out, don’t stand inside the infernal…

Then we were off to BT.

We started BT off with a bang, and took out Najentus. The damage bubble, and spike elements were a refreshing change. We really started to get the feeling that BT would be far more interesting than Hyjal.

Then we took out Supremus. Don’t stand in the fire, spread out, heal the tanks and kite! Not very inspirational or imaginative.

Shade of Akama reminded us a bit of Razorgore, with the “you don’t deal with the boss until the control aspects are removed” mechanic. This mechanic was used in Magtheridon as well, but not quite as overused as some of the other crap that has been recycled to death.

Kaz was next, back in Hyjal, and once we got through the trash, we had little trouble dealing with the boss. The “living Bomb” aspect was nothing new. Nor was the “kill the boss before the entire raid blows up” component. In fact, if they had added a damage bonus to the attackers, we could have called this Vael2.

Back in BT we had to deal with Gorefiend. This “You are a ghost, don’t let your adds get to the raid” bit was very new, and quite challenging. We had to wipe a number of times before we had enough people in the guild comfortable with the experience who would see us through the fight. In fact, even now, we wipe a lot on this guy. We still have a number of players to get trained on this, and it’s really annoying to kill this guy week after week, and still wipe on him so much.

Then we were back in Hyjal dealing with Azgalore. This fella has some REALLY ANNOYING TRASH. Most of us were seriously at the /wrist stage when we finally downed this boss.

This brings us up to date. We’ve worked Archimonde down to 70%. This fight is annoyingly easy. Why the hell we don’t just kill him every time we pull I cannot say. This has to be the simplest fight I’ve seen in a long time, yet we can’t seem to execute it properly. Spam decurse, don’t stand in the fire, click the item in your inventory. How hard can this be, seriously?

We have RoS in P2 @ about 40%. We only had one night on him so far, and we had troubles with the dampen debuff.

Still haven’t had a good shot at Bloodboil, we never seem to have enough healers online to work on him… By the way, we are recruiting healers. :-)
